The External who would become "Shar" was born a thrall in Anglo-Saxon England, dying her first death in childbirth before the Norman Conquest. She was found and mentored by the External Selene. Centuries later, she became the mentor of the Externals' Seer, Burke.

Is she an immortal who plays the rich eccentric because it suits her? Who knows, but she's the outward personification of the anime smiley. She's also the most benevolent of the Externals... for what it's worth. Because of this, she's often on tense terms with the other members of her cabal.
Shar's been considered a tad "off" for centuries, carrying herself in a flamboyant or overdramatic fashion. She gives the impression that she would be quite happy living on a 1940s Hollywood movie set, and her fashion sense is impeccable when she isn’t shoveling out cow manure or participating in animal welfare work. Her flighy behavior combined with her bright, sunny nature cause people to write her off as ditzy.Don't be fooled by her demeanor. Shar is an External. She will disembowel someone with the same hand used to show them kindness. Even her best intentions end in a river of blood and madness if it suits her.
